FAQ
What if the loading process get interrupted?
DLM has resume function for most objects to allow you to start from the interruption point.
Therefore, you don’t need to download all the data again.
Supported object: Lead, Opportunity, Opportunity person role, Program, Program member
Could multiple objects be selected in the same task?
Yes, multiple objects could be included in the same task. However, DLM will download data in below order.
Lead
Program
Campaign
Opportunity
Example:
If we choose Lead and Program in the same scheduling task, DLM will run Lead extraction first. After all Leads are downloaded, DLM will then start the Program extraction.
Can I schedule multiple tasks at the same timestamp?
No, multiple tasks of different objects with the same scheduled timestamp are not allowed.
Example 1 (Invalid):
Task1: extract Lead at 5:00 pm, Monday, Daily
Task2: extract Program at 5:00 pm, Monday, Daily
Example 2 (Valid):
Task1: extract Lead at 5:00 pm, Monday, Daily
Task2: extract Program at 5:05 pm, Monday, Daily
Also, we recommend to set each task with only one object with different schedule time. It will has better download performance with less conflict between tasks.
How long will Initial data take?
It depends on the server and environment the user is using. However, it may take more than a day for initializing the data if the data size is huge.
*Currently, only Lead can be initialized.
What is the difference between initial Lead and extract Lead?
We suggest users to use “Initial Lead” function before “Extract Lead”. Because normally, there are millions of Lead data on Marketo, and initial Lead allows you to extract Lead data from the very first record of Lead data. Contrarily, Extract Lead use the method of ‘incremental’ download, which is for users to keep their database up-to-date without hitting API limits. Therefore, after initialized the Lead data, you can update Lead by “Extract Lead”.
What is Error log and what does it represent?
Error in log (e.g. 20160919.log) occurs when Marketo connection temporarily failed or incorrect Marketo/SQL Server connection detected. It causes data loading process to stop. If this kind of error log occurs, please restart the data extraction from the break-point.
Error in txt (e.g. 20160919.txt) occurs when Marketo connection temporarily failed. It results in some records missing during data transfer but the loading process will continue until download completed. If this kind of error occurs, please redo the data extraction for make sure full data is downloaded.
What kind of database can I save my Marketo data?
DLM support several databases, please find latest status
here
.
I have limited API calls every day, how do I make sure using DLM won’t exceed my quota?
We provide the function of checking the latest API usage in DLM, and your API usage will be shown in the log page ,so you could be aware at anytime during loading process. However, we are not offering the function of stop downloading once the set API calls is reached. This feature is planned to be implemented in the near feauture.
I don’t know how to get started to extract data, is there any suggestions?
DLM suggest you to follow the process the FIRST time using DLM, please find the detail process in User Guide <P5>. To help you quickly familiar with DLM, you can also watch the video guides under “Resource” page or follow our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyy6KWjAbTbgkaYBSmM3X8g
What’s the difference between Program-SOAP and Program-REST?
Due to Marketo daily REST API limits (SOAP API doesn’t have the limitation), we provide Program-SOAP to avoid using too many REST API calls. Both Program-SOAP and Program-REST has the same function but Program-REST has the better data download speed.
Will my data in database be deleted if records deleted/merged in Marketo?
Yes, DLM mirrors your Marketo data into your SQL server so all the data in your database will be up-to-date. However, this is a one way sync, which means if records were deleted in your database, it will NOT mirror to Marketo.
Why do I need to extract Marketo data to database but not extract it from my reporting tool directly?
1. Pulling data to database allows you to get the data anytime without waiting for data rendering each time.
2. To analyze data from different sources, it is also more easily joining the data.
3. By saving data in database, all your Marketo records have a backup.
How can I retrieve Marketo data to Tableau, Domo, Power BI, etc ?
We suggest you to retrieve data using Data loader for Marketo to SQL server then you can integrate those data with reporting and analysis tool.
How can I integrate DLM with Marketo to get data extracted ?
You can first create API user in Marketo, then fill in all the required fields in DLM. Then DLM will be connected to Marketo. Please find the detail process in User Guide <P5>.
Can DLM used on my Mac?
Currently, DLM can only be used on Windows system. However, there are some ways for you to use your Mac with DLM:
a. Install DLM on a Windows server on cloud. E.g. AWS Windows server
AWS:
